The candidates in order to appear in the concerned exam should be a graduate in education or have a diploma in Elementary Education with at least 55% marks. Qualifying Criteria:

The candidates should prepare as per the syllabus of the Gujarat Primary School (Classes I to V) for Paper I whereas candidates preparing for the Paper II should prepare as per the syllabus of Secondary Schools (Classes VI to VIII) respectively. The candidates who wish to become eligible for the Secondary Schools can prepare for both the papers of the exam.

The Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test is held every year in the months of July/ August by the Government of Gujarat and online applications are made for the concerned exam through the Online Job Application System (OJAS) of Government of Gujarat.
